San Jose - 2 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 : You can get one room for $500 to $600 may including utilities, there are some commuter special for just 5 day in a week for $350, just look at craigslist or local newspaper, or post in local grocery stores Buy a VTA month pass $70 and live close to your work place, Save gas and insurance 2 : Public transportation will cost you $70 a month (its for the monthly pass) Rent: If you just want to rent a room, it can go anywhere from 350 to 1000+ depending on what you want (other criteria) and where you want to stay. San Jose is huge. If you want to rent an apartment, it can go from 700 something to thousands (again, depending on criteria and location) You can narrow it down even further yourself.
